General
Modem Volume
Selects the volume of the modem.
Ringer Volume
Selects the volume of the rings for incoming faxes.
Disable JBIG Compression
Disables the JBIG Compression algorithm. JBIG is a compression standard which can reduce fax transmission times significantly when enabled. When enabled, documents will be JBIG encoded when sending and receiving to another JBIG capable fax device. When a fax is send to or received from a non-JBIG capable device, other compression algorithms will be used. It is possible some older fax machines are in use which will fail to connect when JBIG is enabled. For such a scenario, the JBIG disable option is provided.
Disable Error Correction (ECM)
Disables the Error Correction Mode (ECM). ECM should normally be left enabled, except in extreme circumstances where line conditions are too poor to support ECM faxes.
Fax Archive
Disables or selects the type of fax archive. The options for fax archiving are:
Disabled: No archiving of faxes will occur.
Archive to Fax Number: Enabling this setting will cause all faxes to be sent to this fax number in addition to the ones specified by the user.
Archive to Email Address: Enabling this causes all faxes to be archived to the email address specified. Multiple email addresses can be specified by the user by including a semicolon between the addresses. This can be enabled for fax send, fax receive, or both.
Send
Detect Dial Tone
Selects whether the fax machine should wait for a dial tone before dialing. If the mfp has trouble recognizing the dial tone in your location or if none is present, this setting should be disabled.
Overlay Header
The phone number, time, and date are stamped on top of all outgoing faxes. This option selects whether to put this stamp above the page image, or whether to overlay the stamp, covering a small part of the top of the page. The advantage of overlaying the header reduces the chance that each faxed page will be larger than the selected paper size and thus printing as two pages at the receiving fax device.
Dialing Mode
Selects the dialing mode (tone or pulse).
Retries on Busy
If an attempt to contact the receiving fax machine fails because its phone line is busy, set this value to the number of retry attempts that will be made before the fax job is aborted.
Retries on No Answer
If an attempt to contact the receiving fax machine fails because it does not answer, set this value to the number of retry attempts that will be made before the fax job is aborted.
Retry Interval
Set this value to the number of minutes to wait between retries.
Receive

Output Bin
Selects the output bin on the mfp that will contain incoming faxes after being printed.

Check this box to stamp incoming faxes with available information..
Fit image to page size
Check this box to scale the incoming fax image to the size of the paper contained in the Input Tray.
Forwarding Number
Put in the number of another fax device if you wish to have incoming faxes forwarded to that device. Faxes will still be printed or stored in memory at this device.
Activity Log
Print Activity Log
Click this button to print the internal modem's fax activity log. A log of all fax calls incoming and outgoing since the log was cleared will be printed at the mfp.
Clear Activity Log
Clears all entries in the fax activity log. Periodically the log should be printed for any record-keeping purposes and then cleared to avoid having it grow too large.
