Chapter 8 BRT (BACKUP and Tape Reader) Messages

BACKUP Errors

The messages in this chapter are generated by the BACKUP and Tape Reader (ZBRT) subsystem. The subsystem ID displayed by these messages includes BRT as the subsystem name.

NOTE: Negative-numbered messages are common to most subsystems. If you receive a negative-numbered message that is not described in this chapter, see Chapter 15.


0001

DSM/SCM TapeReader *0001* : *ERROR* Tape-err: err-text

err

is the numeric value of the tape error that occurred. The possible values for this token are listed in Table 8-1.

err-text

is a text translation of the error. The possible values for this token are listed in Table 8-1.

Cause  The Tape Reader subsystem returned a tape error.

Effect  The effect varies based on the specific error returned.

Recovery  Perform the task in the mount message.

Cause  The BACKUP subsystem returned a tape mount message to inform you to mount a tape.

Effect  The BACKUP subsystem waits for you to perform the task in the mount message.

Recovery  Perform the task in the mount message.

Backup *0006* : err-text

err-text

indicates the BACKUP error number and a brief description of the error. Tape errors are defined in Table 8-1.

Cause  The BACKUP subsystem returned an error.

Effect  The effect varies based on the specific error returned.

Recovery  Look at the error code and text reported in the message. The possible values are listed in Table 8-1. For more detailed information, including recovery actions, refer to the Guardian Disk and Tape Utilities Reference Manual.

BACKUP Errors

Following is a list of BACKUP errors and their text descriptions. These errors appear as the value of err-text in the BACKUP event messages. For information about correcting BACKUP errors, refer to the Guardian Disk and Tape Utilities Reference Manual.
