HP Drive Encryption software provides and manages encryption for the computer
hard drive. This package is provided for supported notebook models running a
supported operating system.

NOTE: Security Manager 8.3 or later must be installed first to access Drive
Encryption.

ENHANCEMENTS:
- Improves the localization of an error message that is displayed when an
attempt is made to login to the system when a smartcard has not been inserted
into the system.
- Provides installation and uninstallation messages localized in the Hungarian
language.
- Provides support for the Bulgarian keyboard layout in the preboot environment
on systems running Windows 8.x.
- Provides support for numeric keys to be used in the preboot environment for a
password in the Arabic language.
- Adds support for multiple USB keys to be connected to the system at preboot.
- Provides improved font sizing for the Russian language.
- Provides improved font sizing for the Bulgarian language.
- Provides an improved Trusted Platform Module (TPM) message when an attempt is
made to authenticate the sytem using the incorrect password during Windows 8
preboot.
- Improves the display of an error message when the message is displayed while
the system is run in tablet mode and is rotated 90 or 270 degrees.
- Provides improved instructions for the OneDrive wizard screen.
- Provides an improved message when the system is powered on using an
unsupported BIOS mode.

FIXES:
- Fixes an issue where a system that is running a hardware encrypted
self-encyrpting drive (SED) takes more time than expected to boot after a
power-on password is entered.
- Fixes an issue where a system that has LAN/WLAN Switching enabled in BIOS does
not boot properly when the system is powered on while a LAN cable is not
connected.
- Fixes an issue where a fingerprint previously enrolled continues to be
authenticated after the fingerprint policy is removed.
- Fixes an issue where OneDrive Recovery does not function properly.

PREREQUISITES:
- HP Client Security Manager version 8.3.x or later is required.

- Drive Encryption is supported in most regions and locales. HP BIOS flags Drive
Encryption as unsupported when installation needs to be blocked.

- Software encryption is supported on all traditional hard drives, including
SSDs and SEDs.

- A USB flash drive is required to back up the encryption key which will be
later utilized for recovery purposes.

HOW TO USE:
1. Download the file by clicking the Download or Obtain Software button and
saving the file to a folder on your hard drive (make a note of the folder where
the downloaded file is saved).

2. Double-click the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.
