DESCRIPTION: |
This package creates files that contain an image of the System BIOS (ROM) for the supported notebook models in the 68SAD ROM family. This package is used to flash the System ROM on a supported notebook. This package includes several methods for updating the BIOS version as follows: - Use the HPQFlash Utility to update the BIOS directly in a Microsoft Windows Operating System environment. - Create a bootable USB Key to update the system BIOS. - Use System Software Manager (SSM) to update the system BIOS on PCs in a network. NOTE: To determine the ROM family and ROM date, press F10 on the notebook during startup to run the Setup Utility, and then view File/System Information. |

- Provides support for dual USB keyboards in the DOS environment. - Provides the location, manufacturer, size, and speed for each memory slot in the F10 BIOS setup. - Updates the Management Engine BIOS Extension (MEBx) to version 7.0.0.0062. - Updates the preboot execution environment (PXE) ROM to version 1.3.95.0. NOTE: The updated PXE code provides security enhancements that possibly require configuration changes on the PXE server. - Provicesd support for Wake on LAN (WOL) on systems running while on battery power. - Provides the Max SATA speed option in the F10 BIOS Setup which enables the maximum speed of the SATA drive to be set to 6.0 Gbps or to 3.0 Gbps. |
FIXES: |
- Fixes an issue where the system BIOS cannot be flashed in unattended mode if the BIOS password contains more that 16 characters. This issue occurs only when the BIOS is flashed in delay mode. - Fixes an intermittent issue where the BIOS Power On feature does not wake the system from the off state. - Fixes an intermittent issue where the optical drive tray does not eject properly when the eject button is pressed. - Fixes an intermittent issue where the system battery does not charge properly after it has been fully discharged. - Fixes an intermittent issue where a system using a Solid State Drive (SSD) system does not boot properly. |
HOW TO USE: |
1. Download the file by clicking the "Download" or "Obtain Software" button and saving the file to a folder on your hard drive (make a note of the folder where the downloaded file is saved). 2. Depending on the desired update method, complete either of the following steps: a. To update the BIOS using HPQFlash or to create a bootable disk on key, double-click the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions. OR b. To use HP System Software Manager (SSM) to update the BIOS on notebooks in a network, copy the downloaded file to the file store and then run the SSM software.
