Easy Printer Manager

This chapter gives an overview of the Easy Printer Manager (EPM) default user interface and its features.

Layout of the User Interface

This section describes the EPM user interface to familiarize you with the application’s layout. This interface is intended to be used by general device users in a small business or small home office environment.

Page overview

The EPM interface is comprised of four basic sections as described in the table that follows.

Area

Description

Application Information

Includes links for changing to the advanced UI, Help, and About.

Contents Area

Displays information about the selected device, supplies, paper, and quick links. The information will vary based on the printer selected.

Quick Links

Displays “quick links” to device specific functions (e.g., Scan Assistant). This section also includes links to applications in the advanced settings UI’s Application Box. See Application Box for information on how to change these links.

Printer List

Displays the printers listed in System Preferences->Print and Fax.

Application Information Overview

The following are menu items that provide basic information about EPM.

Open the Advanced Settings UI Button

The button is used to change the user interface to the advanced settings user interface.

Refresh

Click on button to refresh the device information.

Preference

Click on button to open the preference dialog for EPM.

Help

Click on button to open the online help system for EPM.

About

Click on button to open the EPM information window.

Contents Area

The contents area displays device information about the selected printer, toner and paper information, and quick links to device functionalities.

Area

Description

Device Information

Displays an image of the printer and the printer’s model name, IP address, status, and current LCD message.

Troubleshooting Button

Click on this button to open error information for the printer. If the printer’s user manual was not copied to the computer from the printer’s installation CD, the Troubleshooting button will not appear.

Supplies

Displays toner information for the selected printer.

Paper

Displays paper and tray information for the selected printer. If the printer does not have paper sensing abilities, the Paper tab will show "Not Available".

Troubleshooting

The Troubleshooting button opens another window with information related to the printer’s error or issue. Click on the Troubleshooting Guide button in the pop-up window to open the page with information about the current error.

Supplies

The Supplies tab displays information related to the printer’s toner levels.

Area

Description

Toner

Displays toner level estimates for each color for the selected printer.

Toner ID

Displays the toner’s ID used for ordering.

Order Supplies

Click on this button to go to the Samsung supply ordering website.

Paper

The Paper tab displays tray and paper information for the selected printer.

Area

Description

Tray

Displays the paper trays available on the printer.

Capacity

Displays the maximum number of pieces of paper the tray will hold.

Size

Displays the size of paper currently loaded in the tray.

Paper Level

Displays a graphic representation of how much paper is left in the tray.

Quick Links

The Quick Links section contains links to applications that use the printer’s other functions. This section also includes links from the advanced UI’s Application Box (see Application Box). The buttons available will vary depending on the device selected. The basic buttons that link to the device’s other functions are Scan Assistant, EPM (Easy Printer Manager), and SWS (SyncThru Web Service). Other buttons provided will be links to other applications not necessarily related specifically to printing. If the link is unusable by the selected device, it will be dimmed.

Printer List

The Printer List displays icons corresponding to printers listed in System Preferences->Print and Fax' error status. Clicking on a printer in the printer list will display that printer’s information in the contents area of the UI. See Device Status Icons for status icon meanings.
