Character Maps

Character Maps allow you to insert a symbol or character that is not available on the keyboard into your current document.

  1. Select the appropriate character map:

  2. Select the appropriate character:
    • highlight the character using the arrow keys and hit Enter or
    • hit the key indicated in brackets next to the character

Function Keys

The function keys f1 to f8 located on the top row of the keyboard are used to launch applications or perform special functions.

The function keys can be configured by pressing the 'Function Keys...' button at the keyboard configuration window.

Up to 16 applications can be assigned using the keys f1 to f8, and Ctrl+f1 to Ctrl+f8.

The default configuration of the function keys are shown in the table below.

Text Macros

The Text Macro feature allows you to easily insert text (such as your name and address) or symbols into your document using shortcut keys.

Configure the text macros by pressing the 'Text Macros...' button at the keyboard configuration window. You can configure up to 26 text macros, associated with the shortcuts Fn+A to Fn+Z.

Tip: Use the Tab key to switch between the Macro Key and Macro Text fields.

To insert the text macro you have configured, just press the appropriate shortcut key (Fn+letter) in your document.

Time and Date Stamp

The Time and Date Stamp feature allows you to insert the current date and time into your document.

You can configure the format of the date and time by pressing the 'Date & Time...' button at keyboard configuration window.

Select from the list of predefined date and time formats, or construct your own using elements described in the tables below.

hh Hours with leading zero for single-digit hours; 12-hour clock
H Hours with no leading zero for single-digit hours; 24-hour clock
HH Hours with leading zero for single-digit hours; 24-hour clock
m Minutes with no leading zero for single-digit minutes
mm Minutes with leading zero for single-digit minutes
s Seconds with no leading zero for single-digit seconds
ss Seconds with leading zero for single-digit seconds
t One character time marker string, such as A or P
tt Multicharacter time marker string, such as AM or PM

Element Meaning
d Day of month as digits with no leading zero for single-digit days.
dd Day of month as digits with leading zero for single-digit days.
ddd Day of week as a three-letter abbreviation.
dddd Day of week as its full name.
M Month as digits with no leading zero for single-digit months.
MM Month as digits with leading zero for single-digit months.
MMM Month as a three-letter abbreviation.
MMMM Month as its full name.
y Year as last two digits, but with no leading zero for years less than 10.
yy Year as last two digits, but with leading zero for years less than 10.
yyyy Year represented by full four digits.

You can mix regular text with the date or time elements. Enclose text in single quotation marks and the text will remain unchanged in the output.

You can also use Text Macros to insert the time and date stamps. Insert the <TIME> (for time stamp) and <DATE> (for date stamp) tags into your text macros, and they will be replaced by the time and date respectively when the macro is used.

Type International Characters

You can type international characters by first pressing Fn+symbol (see table below) followed by an uppercase or lowercase letter. For example, Fn+' followed by A will give a Á.
